There are 50 pumping stations, 309 pumps which have capacity of 1,000 - 27,000 m3/h ran by Exploiting Irrigation Project Companies, 4,500 canals, 1,200 drains, dams, bridges, siphons and hundreds of small pumps ran by Agricultural cooperatives. Annually, this system serves more than 68,000 hectares of farming land and more than 75,000 hectares of people’s land. In recent years, the province have improved, upgraded, built 18 pumping stations including big pumping stations such as Giap Bat, Que II, Diep Son, Yen Lenh etc and are building Lac Trang II pumping II with scale of 12x4,000 m3/h. Overall, the irrigation systems have worked effectively, provided water to most of the arable land, guaranteed 100% of the cultivated area in the frame seasonality. In the crop seasons, the irrigation systems help drain the water timely to prevent flood and widespread crop failure, which contributes to improving rice productivity, food security stability
In the coming time, the province will review irrigation system planning as a basis for investment in upgrading works in line with economic development orientations of the province. At the same time, the province will disseminate the Ordinance on Exploitation and Protection of Irrigation Works regularly and deeply to enhance further awareness of responsibility for the irrigation officials and for the people in the management irrigation./.
