To promote strength as an agricultural province of the Red River Delta, which covered with of 45,000 hectares of agricultural land, in recent years, Ha Nam have always focused on research and applying scientific and technological progress to increase productivity of crop and livestock and invest in pilot of producing agricultural as high-quality goods.

Annually, the province build science and technology plans based on task-oriented research of the Political Bureau, Ministry of Science and Technology and the directives of the prime minister etc. At the same time, they actively ordered with institues, universities for technology researchs, which are necessary for the developing economy and society in the province. Visiting Binh Nghia commune, Binh Luc district or Phu Van commune, Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province, we couldn’t stop feeling surprised about the changes of the low-lying land, which had been converted into multi-cultivation areas, growing flowers. Daisy, lily, gerbera fields etc not only adorn the countryside, but also help farmers bring in huge revenues, hundreds of millions each year. A household plant flowers using the industrial model in Phu Van said that, planting flowers could bring high efficiency just if we invest the net, mist irrigation system, the automatic adjusting lighting system and equipments to preserve after harvesting. Therefore, the farmers could actively plant flowers at the exact time such as at holidays to meet the needs of comsumers. The plants grow throughout the year avoiding storms and insect pests.

Average with a grid model of 2,800 m2 florists will get between 350-400 million / ha / year. And if with model of 30,000 m2 planting flowers outsied in nature applying new technologies, will gain between 150-200 million / ha / year. Up to now, there are over 40 hectares of specialising and rotational flowers in Phu Van commune, which is 3-4 times bigger than before 2000. The farmersgot  60% interest each crop. Generally, there are over 97,000 m2 land growing flowers outside in nature and 7,504 m2 growing in greenhouse in the province.

Beside developing the area specializing in flowers, in various localities of Ha Nam also conducted projects “Building a model of production, processing and consumption of edible mushrooms - medicinal mushrooms towards industrialization”. They had completed building concentrating mushroom farming house with scale capacity of 2,500 m2 to reach 500 tons of material / year and are promptly implementing project 1,000 households growing mushrooms in the province.

The project "Building a model of production and consumption of fresh sàe vegetables in Ha Nam" was implemented grid house with white nets covering the dome, black mesh, nylon with a total area of 6,000 m2. The effect of greenhouse vegetable production is between 420 - 550 million / ha / year. Besides, the project also guides people how to produce fres safe vegetables in the field and use varieties and advanced technology, which give the farmers above 83 million / ha / year.

In the period 2012 - 2020, Ha Nam province has set a target of developing science and technology as motivation to accelerate the process of industrialization and modernization as well as the restructuring of agriculture and rural economy. Also continuing to replicate growing mushroom model in households with utilizing agricultural waste, high-tech floriculture, livestock clusters away from residential areas, applying waste treatment technologies in household breeding scale etc.

At the same time, focusing on applying biotechnology in farming, animal husbandry, poultry, producing bio-fertilizers and crop protecting products from herbs. Breakthrough high-tech applications are varieties and animal breeds with high yield and good quality.

Therefore, the province will facilitate to develop research centers, selecting and producing crop varieties and animal breeds, forest tree seeds having comparative advantages for the province. Striving to have 60 - 70% applied research topic bringing high efficiency in practical production. /.
