In the area of ​​cultivation, Ha Nam has tested many new rice varieties under ecological zones, selecting into mass cultivation in the province. Agriculture sector has implemented many projects, testing new plant varieties: project "Building N97 model rice crop"; project "Construction of intensive farming model Bioseed 06 Hybrid corn seed"; the project to build models using soybean foliar fertilizer... From these projects, dozens of plant varieties have been brought into production, bring back quality and economic efficiency, suitable with the conditions of local and contribute to economic restructuring in agriculture and rural areas of Ha Nam. Particularly, Ha Nam had absorbed and successfully applied F1 hybrid rice seeds production technology, to help farmers receive the good quality hybrid rice and cheaper than imported varieties. Hybrid rice area is maintained to reach 50-60% in spring, 20-25% of the season; cultivated area of ​​high-quality rice varieties increased from 25% up to 30% of the area. In 2012, the industry has developed the scheme "Development of edible mushroom products" from 2012 to 2015 with the goal of developing new manufacturing jobs, solve employment, increasing income for farmers by high nutritional value products, economic efficiency and export capacity, while reducing environmental pollution, create organic fertilizer for the rice fields. In 2012, the province has 86 households have implemented the edible mushroom products, the value was estimated at 3.264 billion VND. In 2013, the province has 230 households with 276 models of edible mushroom production, output reached 250 tons. Along with that, the scheme of developing straight rice sowing also actively deployed, gradually replacing traditional manufacturing methods. In 2012, wheat sowing area reached 7279 hectares, accounting for 10.5% of the cultivated area of ​​wheat a year, is 10,446 ha in 2013, representing 15.3% of the cultivated area of ​​rice a year. Agriculture sector has widely applied research methods and advanced cultivation model, building models of scientific application of advanced and high efficiency technology, expanding the area of ​​fruit trees, flowers and safe vegetables.

In the livestock sector, Ha Nam focused on selection of cattle breeding, poultry farming model consistent with high efficiency through the application of biotechnology, as well as access to new breeding technology replacing old varieties of inferior quality. In the years from 2006 - 2012, growth in livestock production in the province reached over 8%/ year; livestock density in 2006 was 31.4%, in 2012 reached 43%. Total meat output in 2006 reached 39.2 thousand tons, 61.5 thousand tons in 2009 to reach, in 2012 over 64 thousand tons, in 2013 approximately 68 thousand tons. "Lean pig program" has been implemented strongly in Ha Nam.

To date, the rate of lean pig breeds accounted for 70-75% of the total, foreign pigs, hybrid pig with good quality, the weight of slaughtered on the farm, at home reached 100 kg/ head, lean higher than 50%. Average weight of pigs slaughtered in 2006 was 56.1 kg/pig, up to 2010 reached 63.8 kg/pig and in 2013 reached 70,1kg/pig. Thus, in 07 years, the average weight of slaughtered pigs increased by 25% thanks to the progress of the breeding application.

In livestock and poultry, the application of advances in breeding has made the province's livestock industry develope quite comprehensive. Super meat varieties, super egg has been adopted and brought high economic efficiency. Due to the good application of new varieties bring economic benefits to poultry growth, now the province's total poultry population reach nearly 06 million annual.

Water area for aquaculture of Ha Nam is not very big, but the scientific advances and new technologies in this field are also applied such as semi-intensive unisexual tilapia GIFP line farming model, Thai breed brings high yield of 08-09 tons/ha; semi-intensive outcross tilapia farming model yield 10-12 tons/ ha; semi-intensive black carp salable farming model yield 06-07 tons/ ha; contract perch farming model yield 09-10 tons/ ha; model using probiotics, pond's quality treatment and environment improvement in fish cultivation rose an average yield of about 1.5 to 02 tons/ ha.

The application of scientific advances in plant protection products are also interested annually, 100% of the plants are using the right type of plant protection drugs for pest control. The crops are all applied pest control measures in order to lower total cost of products, minimizing environmental pollution caused by drug use.

Field of mechanization in agriculture is the particularly concern in recent years, the introduction of machinery in agriculture has contributed to liberating the labor of farmers. Along with that, productivity, crop quality is improved, the income of agricultural producers is also improved. Currently for crops 90-95% of land preparation has been mechanized; from 20 to 25% of the area is applying direct sowing using seeding tool.

The job postharvest and processing storage is also interested and supported purchasing the combine harvester by the provincial agriculture and positive investor... In February 2012, 2013 the province supported over 05 billion for agriculture people buy tillage machines and over 100 combine harvester makes seasonal deployment in the best time frame, quick harvest, improve the quality of agricultural produce after harvest.

 

In addition to the application of scientific progress and technology of seeds, fertilizers, intensive farming techniques... In recent years, the province is very interested in developing sustainable agriculture, environmental protection and development towards biosafety. A series of models in cultivation, animal husbandry in VietGAP direction was made in Ha Nam, bring back economic benefits as well as the first steps to create a safe product. Typically, safe vegetables growing models in Ha Vy (Ly Nhan), Hung Cong (Binh Luc district), organic vegetable growing Phu Van (Ly) and the pig and poultry production model in accordance of VietGAHP process, intensive fish farming towards VietGAP... Especially, animal husbandry model, poultry-based bio padding contributed to restore farm livestock, increasing people's incomes, limited environmental pollution. By the end of 2013, the province has built more than 3,000 models with 55 370 m2 area of ​​the barn. Expected in 2014, the province will build 2,000 biological padding model.

It can be seen, the research and successfully put application of technical advances and new technologies in agricultural production has helped improve economic efficiency and agriculture in particular, serve socioeconomic development in general.
